- The first time lighting your candle, allow the wax to melt all the way to the sides of the container. Failure to do so will often cause "tunneling", which refers to the wick sinking lower and lower, forming a tunnel in the center. Wax will build up around the sides and this will limit the life of your soy candle.
- Soy wax does not burn as hot as paraffin wax; therefore, soy wax candles require a thicker wick, which can form a mushroom-esque shape at the top of the wick. TRIM TRIM TRIM!
- Aim to trim your wick to about 1/4"/6-8mm before you re-light your candle. This will ensure a long-lasting candle, minimize soot and prevent any of the black from slipping into your candle.
- Extinguish your candle by using a wick snuffer or by dipping the wick into the melted wax and straightening it back up. This will stop the wick smoking (when we simply blow the candle wick to put it out) and will help with re-lighting the next time
- Victoria & Albert candles are made with 100% soy wax. The top of your candle may appear slightly uneven, as this is a sign of no chemical stabilizers & natural soy wax being hand poured.
